I'm Tessa, and at 18, I find myself on an incredible adventure. I'm in my first year of studying Marine Science at Tauranga through Waikato University. The Pinnacle Programme has played a role in shaping my experiences and is providing me with life skills that I incorporate into my everyday life.
I have a passion for challenges and the great outdoors, I've explored the NZ bush, completed numerous great walks, and completed the gold Duke of Edinburgh and Queen's Guide award. Paddle sports have become another significant part of my life. I've paddleboarded 26 km down the Waikato River and kayaked 76 km. I am eager to conquer even longer distances and at a faster pace.
My voyage aboard the Spirit of New Zealand was nothing but incredible. Throughout the voyage, I made everlasting friendships and memories that will last forever. This incredible journey on the sea made me passionate about returning to the Spirit as a crew member. I have been privileged to help crew on multiple voyages so far and have loved it. And I hope to share the incredible journey I had with the Spirit with others.
Looking ahead, my future plans involve continuing to blend my passion for Marine Science with a dedication to the environment. I hope to contribute to groundbreaking research and marine expeditions that advance the understanding of our oceans.
The support has been a pleasure in my journey so far, and I'm excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Thank you for being a part of my adventure.
Wishing you all the best for your journey.
