My name is Lucas, and I am a freshman at Georgetown University’s College of Arts & Sciences studying Political Economy with a minor in Philosophy.
While engaging with Palmerston North local governance during my high-school years, I served on the city’s Youth Council and Creative Communities Scheme funding committee. While taking on goals such as boosting voter turnout and creating dialogue between candidates, I developed a strong passion for civic engagement and advocating for youth voices in local politics. Through programs like BLAKE Inspire and my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, I also became especially interested in environmental advocacy.
Now in Washington, D.C., I have continued to explore my passions in public policy and environmentally-focused ESG investing. Beyond my academic and work life, I enjoy playing piano and badminton. During my most recent years spent in New Zealand, I achieved the Trinity Grade 8 Piano Exam with Distinction and represented my regional mens’ badminton team. Now undertaking tertiary study, I am excited to continue following my passions and growing as a part of the Pinnacle Programme community.
As an ancient Greek proverb says, ‘Σμικρού γένοιτ’ αν σπέρματος μέγας πυθμήν,’ meaning ‘A huge tree can tower from a tiny seed.'
