Kia ora, everyone!

My name is Lara, and I am a third-year Architecture student at Victoria University of Wellington under the Kahotea Scholarship. As a Stage 1 Pinnacle student, my main passions lie in the fields of sustainability and design. I’m interested in sustainable construction, waste reduction, renewable energy, and weaving together the built and natural environments. After graduating, I plan to take a gap year to travel and work before beginning my Master's degree.

In my spare time, I love to ski, hike, spend time with friends and family, and volunteer. Volunteering has been a huge part of my life ever since High School, and continues to be something I am passionate about. I love empowering others to volunteer, and I find that it gives me meaning in uncertain times. It has also led me to many great opportunities, such as my most recent project: becoming a founding member of the Bio-Based Building Network - a charitable trust increasing awareness of bio-based building materials.

I feel incredibly privileged to call myself a Pinnacle Programme student. Everyone in the programme is so inspiring, and I have made many connections I hope to keep for a long time. I’m excited to continue my journey, progressing through all the stages alongside the Pinnacle community.
