Hey! I’m Jess and I'm very honoured to have the opportunity to become a part of the Pinnacle whanau. My passions lie within a variety of things including sports, academia and serving my community.
I have always been someone that gives everything a go, this gave me many opportunities to pursue a wide range of sports including swimming, karate, football, and pretty much anything else that was available at school. I have been to multiple nationals for kenpo karate and competed in provincial football teams as well as the national league qualifiers, and captained both my school, club, and regional team. I have also excelled in the coaching side of football as a goal to get more girls into playing. This includes facilitating development programme training sessions and being employed as an assistant coach and tournament team coach alongside gaining my junior level 3 accreditation.
I have always grown up in and around the ocean, and this drove my involvement in surf lifesaving. I have been involved in my local surf club since I was 4 years old so became qualified as a volunteer surf lifeguard at Ruakaka as soon as I could. I am now lucky enough to be working the summers keeping people safe as a paid lifeguard along the northern region beaches! I aspire to be a positive role model to others and through surf I have been given the position of junior club captain, rookie lifeguard coordinator and much more, this allows me to share my passions with other people and encourage them to pursue their goals.
I have also worked hard to compete in the IRB racing arena of surf lifesaving which has taken me to a regional, north island and national level where I have achieved an array of medals. I was lucky enough to be selected into the international lifesaving development squad where I trained with the best of the best to improve. It is through surf lifesaving and the connections I have made through it, that I have developed a strong interest into helping people and serving my community, this has lead me to begin my tertiary studies in a bachelor of health science majoring in para-medicine, with my end goal being to complete a postgraduate degree to become an intensive care paramedic and work on the rescue helicopters. I hope to meet many like minded people through the Pinnacle Programme who inspire me to become the best version of myself.
