Hi I’m Jayden van Dyk from Hamilton, of Nga Puhi decent.
I have an ultra rare genetic condition called KBG syndrome that means my early years involved lots of medical stuff and operations. However, I have never seen this as an excuse to get out of anything - it’s my superpower.
Although I always need to work harder than most to learn a new skill, I’ll give almost anything a go and have become a great all round sportsman, excelling most in football and Modern Pentathlon. I compete in both able bodied, Para and special Olympics sports locally, nationally and recently on the world stage.
I would someday love to compete in the Paralympics representing New Zealand.
