I am a second-year student at the University of Canterbury where I am studying towards a double degree of science majoring in Psychology, and commerce majoring in supply chain management and accounting. While at University I have balanced my study with a wide assortment of extracurricular activities to keep my interests and connections broad.
These extracurriculars are what I have enjoyed most about my university experience so far. To date, I have been the lead organiser of three well-received events, namely the Black Dog Swim, BYC Marathon, and Running 72. Raising an accumulative sum of $130,000 for New Zealand Mental Health Charities, this includes the charity of which I am currently president of, Lads Without Labels. I am currently in the process of establishing New Zealand’s only university swimming club, UC Swim.
My long-term endeavour with my sport of swimming is to continue to use it as a way of bringing people together for a collective cause, my brief experience with this has been centred on mental health. My current goal is to swim the 300km stretch of coast between Blenheim and Christchurch, The Black Dog Swim 2 Uni .
