Tēnā koutou katoa, my name is Amy McHardy and I am very excited to be on board the Pinnacle Programme!
A little bit about myself is that I am passionate about sports, the outdoors, and leading and supporting others. My friends and whānau are also very special to me. I am 17 years old and currently board at Whanganui Collegiate School where I am privileged to be Head Girl for 2023.
Sport has always been a large part of my life. I am very grateful for the friends I have met, challenges that I have been confronted with, and opportunities that I have been provided with through sport. I have developed commitment, dedication, and hard work through striving to achieve my goals. Last year, I was selected to represent New Zealand at the Australian Cross Country Champs where I placed 7th in the U17 grade. This year, I stepped outside of my comfort zone and started rowing as a novice where I earned three silvers at Maadi Cup. I truly believe that sport has influenced the proud, positive, and energetic person that I am today.
As Head Girl at Whanganui Collegiate School this year, I have been provided with a platform to positively influence those around me. I always strive to be a friendly, smiling face in the hope that this will rub off on others. I am so appreciative of the support and opportunities that I have been provided with, which further motivates me to give back to my peers, whānau, and the wider community.
I am also very committed in my academic studies where I plan to pursue Tertiary education next year. I hope to gain insight through the Pinnacle Programme, into possible career pathways that would suit me. I aspire to be a role model and inspiration to others. My future goal is to pursue my sporting endeavors to a professional level and have a successful career.
I cannot wait to experience what the Pinnacle Programme has to offer!
