Growing up on a large sheep and beef property in the Turakina Valley in the Rangitikei district, Peter spent most of his holidays either helping out on the farm or in the family sawmill. Peter spent over twenty five years in the banking industry, working primarily in rural towns and regions, holding positions of Bank Manager and Regional Rural Manager before a career change took him into the agricultural industry in 2004. He was Gallagher’s National Sales Manager for 11 years. With a post-graduate diploma in Banking and a graduate of the Kellogg Rural Leadership programme, Peter is also a Fellow of the Banking & Insurance Institute and a member of the NZ Institute of Directors. A Past Chair, Trustee and Treasurer of the NZ Farm Environment Award Trust, Peter held these various positions over a 10-year period, having been on the inaugural management team that set this very prestigious organisation up nationally. Having devoted his entire life to supporting rural New Zealand, Peter believes that without the agribusiness sector, New Zealand would not be held in the high esteem it is now on the world stage.
